المؤلف

بشارة دوماني، محاضر في جامعة بير زيت، وأستاذ مساعد في جامعة بنسلفانيا. وهو حالياً أستاذ مشارك في دائرة التاريخ، جامعة كاليفورنيا، بيركلي. حاز شهادة الدكتوراه في التاريخ من جامعة جورجتاون، واشنطن العاصمة، سنة 1990.

This book draws a new and vibrant picture of Palestinian society during the Ottoman period, based on local and indigenous sources, such as private papers and religious court records as well as on the testimony of merchants, peasants, and Ottoman officials. It is a major and groundbreaking work of Palestinian historiography.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A graduate of Georgetown University, Washington, DC, Bishara DOUMANI was a lecturer at Bir Zeit University on the West Bank and assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently an associate professor in the History Department in the University of California, Berkeley.
