Orthodox Perspectives on Missions by Catholicos
by Catholicos Aram I Keshishian
Preface by Rev. Walter Arnold
the primate of the Armenian Orthodox Church in Lebanon and also the Moderator of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches,
Orthodox Perspectives on Mission is a collection of the Archbishop’s lectures and writings pertaining to the status of the Christian church at large and its revitalization through the theology and emphases of the Oriental Orthodox Tradition. It is as much itself an ecumenical work as it is concerned with the growing ecumenical concerns of the modern church. Its readership is meant to span the entirety of the Christian Church. In many ways, it is a book compiled as a particularly Armenian contribution to international church issues – one which intends to bring the insight of the Oriental Orthodox Tradition to bear upon subjects ranging from secularization and spiritual renewal to strife in the Middle East and ecclesiastical partnership and unity.
As Rev. Walter Arnold writes in the Preface, Archbishop Aram Keshishian, “knows how to make the Christian faith and gospel relevant in our modern and increasingly complex, societies.”
Reed Bernick Aram I Keshishian is born on March 8th, 1947, in Beirut, Lebanon. He is the head of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia and has been Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church since 1995. He resides in Antelias, Lebanon.
